Dear Msgr. Sempa,
It is my understanding that in regards to the subject evaluation of facilities required for Criteria #19 of the Called to Holiness and Mission project, it is your intention to have Carl Handman of Eyerman-Csala-Hapeman & Handman Architects added to the list of qualified firms by the Diocese of Scranton, and to then contract with him to complete the required evaluations of Sacred Heart - St. John Parish facilities and St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish facilities. Considering that the evaluation report is due in less than a month, I am concerned that the required diocesan approval and the subsequent facility inspections and preparation of the reports may not be completed in time.
In accordance with the Called to Holiness and Mission project requirements, including the requirement to obtain at least two (2) proposals, I have obtained proposals from pre-qualified architects and engineers to conduct the evaluation for the Sacred Heart - St. John Parish facilities. A large group of concerned parishioners including me have agreed to hire and pay one of these firms to complete this evaluation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Rectory, and Sacred Heart School. Therefore, I am writing to request your cooperation in this process, and to allow myself and the selected architectural/engineering firm access to these facilities in order to complete their professional evaluation and report. We plan on performing this work during the week of August 25. The exact date will be established shortly.
In an effort to facilitate communication and expedite approval of this request, by copy of this e-mail to Bishop Martino, Msgr. Grimalia, Reverend Quinnan, and Mr. Frank Semanski, I am requesting that the diocese provide the required approval and authorization which will allow Msgr. Sempa to comply with this request to cooperate in the above effort, and to allow the required access to the parish facilities.
