RE: Called to Holiness & Mission
Pastoral Planning Project in the Diocese of Scranton
Dear Msgr. Grimalia,
Pochváleny bud Pan Ježiš Kristus!
Please forward a copy of the Sacred Heart/St. John Core Team Response to the Proposed Cluster Partners that was due March 10, 2008 (enclosed is a summary of my efforts). I would appreciate this very much.
On Saturday, May 24, 2008 the Sacred Heart Wilkes-Barre Foundation organized a Clean Up of Sacred Heart Church and School Grounds. This was organized as a “Join Hand’s Day” event with the following fraternals:
First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association
Slovak Catholic Sokol
First Catholic Slovak Union of USA & Canada
LA PA Slovak Catholic Union
The property is being neglected and we wanted the property to look nice for the mass on May 30, 2008. We had a very good turn out, young and old. Msgr. Sempa and Father Alco even joined the effort for a while. Leaves were raked and bagged, a lot of weeding and sweeping, grass mowed and shrubs pruned.
The turn out for the film on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at King’s College was also very good. Everyone enjoyed the film and found it very interesting and inspirational. I will be forwarding a copy of the film to Bishop Martino once one of my copies is returned. You might also enjoy viewing the film.
Finally the Mass on Friday, May 30, 2008 commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church was very well attended. This was also initiated and sponsored by the Sacred Heart Wilkes-Barre Foundation. Members of the foundation lead the recitation of the rosary before the mass. I cannot remember the last time a rosary was recited aloud in SacredHeartChurch. Msgr. Sempa said the mass and Father Alco and Father Sullivan concelebrated. It was also nice to see Deacon Joe DeVizia who also joined us.
I am in the process of writing a dissenting minority report to our Cluster Suggestion to the Planning Commission. Msgr. Sempa and Deacon Peter are aware of this. Please watch for it and call me with any questions.
The foundation’s membership is larger than some parishes!
Wishing you God’s blessing on your tough job.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Noreen W. Foti
